Weekend of January 28th-30th

We already had a pretty busy weekend scheduled, so I was skeptical on what we would pull out that we would have time for.    Our pick for the weekend go to a thrift store.  This isn't an abnormal weekend activity for us at all.  We hadn't been in several weeks though.  This actually fit into our schedule well.  We had a meetup scheduled (we organize a couples meetup)  at the Aviator Brewing Company in Fuquay.  There is an amazing thrift store in Fuquay called the Guardian Angel Thrift Store.  It's huge and things are very reasonably priced.  The proceeds also go to benefit alzheimers research which is a cause near to my heart.  My grandfather had alzheimers for his last years, and my grandmother has it now.  I would love to see a cure or a treatment found.

Brent found a couple nice polo shirts today ($2.98/ea), we got a new bathroom scale ($3), and I got a couple things for my room at school.   I'd say we had a pretty good trip.  We then went to the brewery tour at Aviator and tried some new yummy beers with some great friends.

Weekend 3- January 21st-23rd

This weekend I had a snow makeup day (I'm a teacher).  B had to pick three times before he finally got one we could actually accomplish this weekend.   Our final task: cook dinner together. We already had plans for dinner on Saturday night, so we put this task off until Sunday.  I was already planning on making chicken helper asian stir fry for dinner.  Although, we had a variety of meats frozen.  B originally said no to this, but then this am he thawed out the chicken.

The part I like most about asian chicken helper is how easy it is to make.  So of course it didn't really take two of us to make.  B cut up the chicken and I followed the directions.  So it was a cooking dinner together fail!

Oh well, now we are eating snacks, drinking beer, and buckling down for what should be a great football game.  B is cheering on the Jets, but I'm a Steelers fan!

Week 2 January 14th-16th

So when I decided to start blogging our new project I was only thinking about the things that I had put in the jar.  They were all things I was interested in, but also were g rated.  Well I should have known that B would throw a curve ball in there.  For week two the slip of paper read: *****************.  Ok, it wasn't that bad, but no something I want to blog about.  It was still PG rated...get your mind out of the gutter!

Weekend 1 January 7th-9th

In the spirit of the teacher that I am, B and I did paper/rock/scissors to see who would draw first.  B won.  Our first weekend couple activity: clean the entire house together (no internet, tv, or video games until it is done).  I of course wrote this one.  It was the last one I wrote and I threw it in for good measure.  B was not impressed, and it took some convincing for him to believe that the other ones I wrote are a lot more fun.

So this morning B got out of bed and began cleaning.  I felt guilty and got up to help....still nursing my slight hangover from a wine tasting last night.  We had the entire house cleaned in two hours and it looks great.  By 11 am we were on the couch eating Chick-fil-a and watching a movie.  B even made the comment, "it feels great that we have everything done!"  Yea!  Score for us!

See ya next weekend!

The Beginning.........

My awesome husband, B, and I have been married for just under two years.  In our culture today, divorce is a daily occurence.  B and I have a strong foundation in God, and we are strengthening our marriage through him.  I thought of another fun idea for us to try in 2011.  I'm sure I read something similar somewhere in the interwebs, so I can't take credit for it.  B and I each made a list of 25 fun things we would like to do as a couple.  We cut these up and put them in a container.  Each weekend in 2011 we will pick one item out of the jar.  Obviously, there will be weekends when we are too busy, but we will try our best.  I think this will be a lot of fun.  I have tried blogging in the past and I never stick with it, but this is another attempt.
